Partbreds

Compared to many breeds, the Pura Raza Espanola (Purebred Spanish Horse) is not common in the UK. Because of this there are not many partbreds. A question often asked is what crosses do people do and what are the offspring like.
There are some crosses which are more common in the world than others
  • Spanish Norman - Spanish / Percheron
  • Azteca - Spanish / Quarter Horse
  • Andaloosa - Andalusian /Appaloosa
  • Hispano Arab - Spanish / Arab
  • Iberian Warmblood- Spanish / Thoroughbred
however the qualities within the Spanish Horses make is an ideal candidate to cross with most other breeds
Whilst there are not many partbreds in the UK, it is of note that several breeds have been founded or improved by the Spanish Horse including the Connemara, Cleveland Bay and Welsh.
Other horses, not from the UK, that have links to the Spanish Horse are the Lippizaner (from the famous Spanish Riding School - Vienna), the Quarter Horse, and the Appaloosa to name just a few.
